I saw that DPReview asked an interesting question the other day. It was a poll, and the question was: what do you think is the minimum sensor size for an enthusiast camera?
I'm not even sure I quite understand the question. Sensor size means two things – the physical size of the chip, and the number of pixels. The two things always interact, and other things interact with them.
I'd love it if someone would compare the latest 1" sensors with the six-megapixel APS-C sensors of 10 years ago. I suspect that in most ways, the 1" sensors of today would win.
Even so, my answer to the question was 4/3. How about for you?
On a completely different note, would anyone like to trade me my Mamiya 7II in great condition for a Mamiya 6 in similar condition? Even if only temporarily? Email me after Thursday if you're interested. Thanks.
