If you're a fan of nature and travel photography turned up to 11, slathered with photogasmic goodness and dripping with sharpness and rich, deep, saturated colors, has Art Wolfe got an orgy of guilty pleasures served up and waiting for you.
You'll hardly believe it. There seems to be no limit to the lengths photographer Wolfe will go to for a scrumptious photo opportunity, no possibility left unplumbed, and this summation volume pulls out the stops and shakes the foundations. It can read like a parade of beauteous prettiness, a collection of ideas mined rather than any sort of personal viewpoint, albeit executed superbly; but turn page after page, give in, take it on its own terms, and just indulge—it's the dessert cart at the world's best pâtisserie.
Yr. Hmbl. Ed. lacks the buttons that work like this pushes, but many, many people love it, and no one is better at it. If this is your thing, even tangentially, prepare to O.D. time and again, a helpless toothy sated smile on your face. This one's over the top.
