Been caught up in packing and moving tasks today again. Later this afternoon I'll start posting a TOP Classic in four parts, and this weekend I hope to start Kirk Tuck's GH4 review.
TOP's new Secret Headquarters deep underneath a fortified ranch house in Waukesha will be much more spacious than our current 121-square-foot sprawl.
I really am planning to have open "office hours" for visitors. I think I will limit this to people who have a history of commenting, for security reasons. But as I will have a permanent portrait studio, where you'll be able to get a (free) Mike portrait during your visit; you can see some of my work and the odd lot of photographs I'll have exhibited on the walls; we could do a portfolio review of your work if you wish; and we could talk about your photographic goals. Or just talk. Two things that I probably won't want to do include technical lessons or advising about equipment purchases.
The new space will have a flat file, several work tables, and enough bookshelves to organize the library (that's another thing you could do on a visit—see some of the superb photobooks I'm lucky enough to own). I'll have a permanent tabletop setup for product shots. Haven't decided about a darkroom yet, but I'll have enough room for an inkjet printer, finally.
Oh, and you could audition my awesome stereo, too. If you play pool, sorry, I'm not allowed to talk about that.
Back to work now—more later. Got any other suggested possible uses for the nearly unlimited square footage of TOP's new Secret Underground Headquarters? I'm all ears.
