This picture I ran across yesterday, by Cajetan Barretto, is telling. It's an Olympus OM-D E-M1 with a Panasonic 12–35mm ƒ/2.8 lens facing off with a Nikon D800 with the field-of-view-equivalent Nikkor 24–70mm ƒ/2.8 lens. The big differences are the 4/3"-type 18x13.5mm sensor vs. the same-as-35mm 24x36mm sensor, EVF vs. OVF, and...well, you can clearly the see the third "big" difference!
(Incidentally, that 12–35mm lens has been out of stock for months at most major retailers including mighty B&H Photo. Remember the old "pipeline" problems that plagued Panasonic when the LX3 was brand new? Months went by as frustrated would-be buyers awaited product. Maybe those headaches are not a thing of the past for Panasonic, but have merely assumed a lower profile.)
