As I'm sure you know, it's "Cyber Monday," a wholly manufactured occasion cynically intended to spur online purchasing!
Okay, easy, Mike.
But the sales are actually real. I sent my son out to buy a new bed for himself on Black Friday, and he got a 50% off deal that really was a money saver.
Anyway, here are a few nice things, and one kinda pleasant sleeper surprise that's cheap at long last.
You can get a 24-MP Sony A7, the original full-frame IL mirrorless, for only $1,298. Note that the replacement, which has IBIS, has been announced.
The lovely Fuji X100S is only $849.95, which is a savings of $450. The newer X100T is a little nicer, but not $450 nicer IMHO.
The full-frame Canon 6D DSLR and a Canon Pixma Pro-10 inkjet printer is only $1,249. I like this camera but people tend to overlook it.
The venerable APS-C Canon 7D, also just replaced, can be had with a 28–135mm ƒ/3.5–5.6 IS USM lens for just $1,099. Still a big step up for Rebel shooters.
Looking to look like a generous Santa? A silver or white Canon Powershot S110 will set Santa back only $189.
Finally, here's the fun one. The Nikon Coolpix A was a decided also-ran—overpriced at the outset, and a loser in the popularity wars to the similarly spec'd Ricoh GR (currently $596.95 with a card). But the Coolpix A is a bit of a sleeper—the few people who use them tend to really like them, and a number of people have always liked the look of the Nikon but held off because of Nikon's over-optimistic pricing (I suspect it was an expensive camera to develop), on which Nikon would not budge for the longest time. But now, finally, for those few people who've been pining for one and have had the patience of Job, the Coolpix A price has plunged...to $499.95, which is a whopping $600 off the recent price and almost $700 ($800? I can't recall now) less than the intro price. I know this one isn't going to be popular, but a few people are going to be very happy. Cheap at last, cheap at last.
Here's a link to more Cyber Monday deals.
Happy, er, Cyber Monday!
Mike
